You may have fond memories of jumping with a jump rope in grade school at recess, whether that be by yourself or with others. What you probably don’t remember is how good of a workout jump rope really is and how much it gets your heart rate going. Fitting jump rope into your workout routine has become more popular in recent years, and because of that, some apps have been surfacing to help you track your jumping. Here are a few reasons why you may want to make jump rope part of your workout and my top picks for apps to help you out. Why make jump rope part of your workoutAt first glance, you may not realize just how much jump rope can help your overall fitness level — here are a few reasons why you may want to add jump rope to your workout routine. Combines cardio with strength building: Jump rope has the benefit of being great cardio and getting your heart rate going fast, but it also can help you build strength if you make the move to weighted ropes. Great for your posture: You can’t jump effectively without good posture. When you’re jumping, you’ll need to keep your chest up, which pulls your shoulders back, gets your neck upright, and keeps your elbows down and back. You can do it anywhere: Jump ropes are extremely portable which makes it a breeze to keep up your jump rope routine everywhere you go. Coil it up and take it with you on your next business trip, vacation, or weekend at the cabin and keep jumping! Crossrope
Crossrope is arguably the best jump rope company right now, and its app is specifically designed to work with its own ropes. It has two systems of ropes: the older but still fantastic premium rope system or the new Infinty system. Crossrope specializes in weighted ropes, meaning its ropes not only help you do cardio but they also provide strength training as well. While buying the ropes gives you everything you need to get started, the free Crossrope app is a perfect companion to aid you in your workout. The app features over a dozen different workouts that focus on strength, endurance, and fat burn, offering you the ability to train the way you want. The workouts range from beginner to advance, meaning you’ll be able to start off nice and slow and move onto to more complicated and harder workouts as you progress. Jump Rope Workout
Jump Rope Workout is a simple app that is meant to count your jumps and log your jump history. By attaching your iPhone to either your waist, thigh, or arm (by use of an arm band), Jump Rope Workout will use the accelerometer in your phone to track how many jumps you do. Plus, you can even enter your weight and allow the app to calculate how many calories your burning, so you can see what the fruits of your labour really are! You can use Jump Rope Workout with any jump rope you choose, and it’s highly rated by users on the App Store. Nike Training Club
While Nike Training Club isn’t specifically designed for jump rope exclusively, it does feature lots of workouts that include jump rope. With hundreds of created workouts by users and professionals alike, Nike Training Club will bound to have something that fits your style. This app is best for someone who is looking to make jump rope just one part of a balanced workout regime. YouTube
YouTube has videos about literally everything and jump rope is no exception. Of course, just looking for Jump Rope on YouTube will net you a lot of results from workouts to cool jump rope tricks, there is a channel that you should subscribe to if you want to get into jump rope. Check out Jump Rope Dudes on YouTube. They have over 400 videos on their channel and all of them are focused on jumping. | Check out this cool DIY Lego charging stand for the Nintendo Switch! Posted: 20 Feb 2018 12:05 PM PST
When I think about the most playful gaming consoles, the first that comes to mind is always the Nintendo Switch. Probably because on top of Nintendo titles being all but synonymous with childlike wonder, the Switch is one of the most physically versatile consoles right out of the box — its unique design allows it to transform from a home console to a portable handheld or arcade-style system effortlessly. There’s even a special (albeit controversial) series of cardboard modification kits coming out in April called Nintendo Labo that will let users incorporate their Switch into tons of fun homemade toy creations. All that playful flexibility has inspired some individuals to take it upon themselves to craft some cool DIY accessories to amp up their console in some pretty ingenious ways. One of those individuals is Imgur user mrbungle88, who decided to build a fully functional Switch charging stand out of Lego blocks instead of spending cash on a store-bought dock.
Using a battery pack, USB-C cable, and, of course, Lego, mrbungle88 assembled a “pro” charging stand complete with air vents, strategic brick placement that allows for easy viewing angle adjustment, and slots to house the Switch’s dual Joy-Con controllers. They then shared their completed masterpiece with the world.
Unfortunately, though the Imgur post is tutorial-like, mrbungle88 doesn’t provide explicit instructions on how to build the stand itself — they just show how the battery, Switch, and other components fit inside it. However, I’m sure many of you Lego aficionados out there could deduce how it’s constructed by studying the embedded photos. And, if not, there are tutorials floating around for similar Lego stands that you could reference. If you’re more of a creative type, you could also simply use mrbungle88’s post as inspiration for your own full-custom Switch stand. Remember, you don’t have to stop at Lego, either — crafty gamers are creating Switch accessories out of cardboard, wood, and even threaded metal rods.
Play on! Thoughts? Questions? Now that you’ve been thoroughly inspired, do you think you’re going to create your own DIY Switch stand? If you’ve already made one, what was your process? | How to download tvOS 11.3 beta 3 to your Apple TV Posted: 20 Feb 2018 12:05 PM PST Just like with iOS and macOS, Apple makes beta versions of tvOS available for developers to test. But unlike the betas for other systems, installing it on the Apple TV (4th generation) or Apple TV 4K is more complicated than a simple download and go. If you’re a developer and you’re having trouble getting the tvOS beta installed, here’s what you need to do. Unlike Apple’s other operating systems, you can’t back up your Apple TV; as such, Apple offers two options for updating tvOS: over the air, which just updates the system; and via USB-C, which restores the device to its factory settings. How to install the tvOS 11 beta over-the-airA note, before we begin: “Over the air” is technically a bit of a misnomer, since you have to use a USB-C cable to initially connect your Apple TV to your Mac to install the tvOS configuration profile. That being said, once you’ve installed the configuration profile, you’ll be able to wirelessly update your Apple TV to any subsequent beta versions. Updating over the air only updates the system software; your configurations and apps should remain on your Apple TV as-is.
Your Apple TV should now detect tvOS 11 and download and install it just like any other update. How to install the tvOS 11 beta over USB-CIf you prefer to wipe your Apple TV developer unit before updating, you can use the Restore Image option, which connects to your Mac via USB-C.
Once iTunes has updated your Apple TV, hook it back up to your television and you’re good to go. Have you got tvOS 11 up and running on your Apple TV? Which method did you use and how did it work for you? Update February 20, 2018: Apple has just released tvOS 11.3 beta 3 for developers. If you already have a tvOS 11 beta installed, proceed to System > Software Updates and download away. If you’ve been waiting for tvOS 11.3 to start testing, your time has come. | Apple Releases iOS 11.3 Beta 3 to Registered Developers Posted: 20 Feb 2018 12:05 PM PST ![]() We'll let you know if we find any notable additions in the new beta version just released. Probably the biggest feature in iOS 11.3 is a new battery health feature. Available by going to Settings > Battery > Battery Health, the section provides a look at the current maximum capacity of your battery relative to when it was new. It also will let you know if the battery is currently supporting peak performance capability. Anyone with an iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus, iPhone SE, iPhone 6s, iPhone 6s Plus, iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus can disable the power management option designed to prevent unexpected shutdowns as a battery ages. Another new addition is the return of Messages in iCloud. With the feature, users can see all of the conversations synced between iOS devices and their Mac using iCloud. For example, when a message is deleted on an iPhone, it will automatically disappear on an iPad. Anyone with an iPhone X can take advantage of four new Animoji – a lion, bear, dragon, and skull. Apple is also adding a new Health Records feature for hospitals and clinics that will allow consumers to see their available medical data in the Health app. Patients from participating providers will view lab results, medications, conditions, and more. Health Records data is encrypted and protected with a passcode. Other changes include improvements in ARKit and a Business Chat in iMessage. The software will officially arrive to the public in the spring. Powered by WPeMatico The post Apple Releases iOS 11.3 Beta 3 to Registered Developers appeared first on Guaripete. |

| Samsung Neuters Rewards Program for Heavy Samsung Pay Users Posted: 20 Feb 2018 12:05 PM PST ![]() In late 2016, Samsung introduced a rewards program, designed to let heavy users of Samsung Pay gain points, then redeem those points for a variety of things like new devices and prepaid gift cards. You can even use your points to be entered to win trips to vacation destinations. Well, Samsung has gone and done something that is very uncool, which is halve the points you received on qualifying transactions. The way this system works is pretty straightforward, so here's an overview. Depending on how many transactions you make with Samsung Pay in a month, you qualify for a certain tier — Member, Silver, Gold, and Platinum. Depending on your tier, you get a certain amount of points per transaction. With points being halved, the new values of each tier are 5 points for Member, 10 for Silver, 15 for Gold, and 20 for Platinum. They used to be 10, 20, 30, and 40. Because of this, if you make the same purchases every month with Samsung Pay, you'll be earning half of the points you would have before this change, which quite frankly, really sucks. Keep in mind, redeeming something with these points takes a long, long time. For example, let's say you only want a $50 gift card to Samsung.com. Well, that'll cost you 12,500 points. How about a Gear Fit 2 Pro? That amounts to a whopping 50,000 points. The point is, getting these points is no cheap task, so with Samsung halving the amount you were already getting, this rewards program just got a whole lot less cool. That's $80 in savings when compared to the usual price of this exact model. Thanks to this deal, you can score a very well priced smartphone with no lockscreen ads. It's a win-win if you've had your eye on the Moto X4. For specs, the X4 has a 5.2″ FHD display, Snapdragon 630 processor, 3000mAh battery, dual cameras, NFC, and IP68 water and dust resistance (full specs) with a mostly clean version of Android. | Snapchat gets GIF stickers and some changes to app redesign Posted: 20 Feb 2018 12:05 PM PST The company behind Snapchat is rolling out a new feature to its app that allows users to paste animated GIFs onto their Snaps and stories. The new functionality is the result of a partnership with Giphy, and provides users with access to Giphy’s enormous GIF database from right within the Snapchat app. Adding GIF stickers to a Snap is pretty straightforward: after snapping a photo or video, just tap the Sticker icon in the top-right corner to bring up the GIF menu. From here, you can search for specific GIFs and scroll through suggestions until you find one you like. GIF stickers also behave essentially the same way regular stickers work: you can resize them and move them around, and you can even press and hold a GIF to pin it to something in video Snaps. Additionally, Snap is also making some adjustments to the app itself, possibly in response to the overwhelmingly negative backlash against Snapchat’s recent redesign. Beginning first on iOS and followed by Android in the coming weeks, the Friends and Discover pages will get a tabbed layout that will make it easier for users to keep up with Stories. The update will also enable sorting through friends with active Stories, Group Chats, and Subscriptions.
